5. Modifying the Application Pool of a Deployed Service Application

From time to time, you may need to change the application pool of a deployed service application. This could occur because of performance issues, or company protocol may dictate the change. To modify the application pool of a currently existing service application, complete the following steps.

  1. Open IIS Manager. Browse to your server and open the Sites node.

  2. Find and expand the SharePoint Web Services IIS website and select your service application, as shown in Figure 7.

  3. On the right side of the screen, under Actions, select Basic Settings.

    Note:

    Ensure that the Content view is selected, or Basic Settings will not appear.

  4. An Edit Application dialog box will appear. Look for the Select button next to the application pool field, as shown in Figure 8. Click the Select button.

  5. Select your new application pool from the drop-down options. Click OK and then click OK again to exit the screen (Figure 9).
